I post this video a lot, but it really is one of my favorite things. It makes me so emotional, see John recording himself, so ahead of his time. You may not like Yoko, or John and Yoko together, but for me this song is one of the most beautiful things. His voice singing, and just John Lennon alone, recording himself, never thinking anyone would see this, but almost making it to leave for people to see it. The little things he does, and watching him looking into the camera singing. It’s all really beautiful from just that viewpoint.

“Dear Yoko” doesn’t have to be Yoko…. it can be anything in your life…. and the lyrics are just too beautiful to not love, and just so meaningful.

There’s this super cute part in Pete’s book where he and John are about 14 and they get into this huge fight. During the scuffle, John’s glasses fly off, and he starts gasping, frantic to find them. Pete’s like, “Here they are, on the floor” and acts like he’s going to stomp on them. John’s gasping and shrieking, “Please don’t do it, Pete, please, Pete!” And Pete brings his foot down an inch away from the glasses and storms off. They didn’t make up for about two weeks, and Pete started hanging around another boy. Then one day the boy was heading home from Pete’s house but his bike had been stolen. He starts off and as soon as he leaves, John rolls around… on the boy’s bike. They make up instantly. John admitted after that he was really scared when Pete started playing with the other boy, ‘cause he thought it meant that they wouldn’t play together anymore.

Are these boys the cutest things or what?! So cute cute cute.
